Introduction to SpamExperts, General Overview

SpamExperts is an email security service that filters spam, unwanted links & mails. It sits in front of the mail server and blocks bad emails before they ever get delivered. This is the front page, your dashboard. In the General tab, there are two options : Mailbox Configuration & Domain Aliases - Mailbox Configuration, by default the settings has been using recommended protections. - Adding Mailbox and Mailbox Aliases Manually Manual configuration of mailboxes is not required, but may be used if you wish to customize the behaviour for specific mailboxes. 1. Click on Mailboxes or Mailbox Aliases in the top mid. 2. Click on Add Mailbox 3. Fill in your desired Mailbox and hit Save. - Domain Aliases A mailbox alias rewrites email from one address at a domain to another address at the same domain. 1. To setup Domain Aliases, click on Add Domain Alias. 2. Enter your domain alias and hit Save once done.

Using Query Rules, Checking Outgoing Logs

SpamExperts uses Query Rules to filter the search on all logs related entry. Let's check Outgoing Logs using Query Rules for practice. You can check outgoing mail logs by navigating to the Outgoing tab in the front page. - Logs, Delivery Issue Log, Unrecognised Domains Log SpamExperts uses query rules to filter the search on logs. 1. Simply click New Rule to add query rules for specific searches. There are many filters to use for your needs. 2. To show results using the query rules, simply click blue Show Results button. 3. Once the results are shown, checklists mails that you want to apply action to. 4. Select desired actions to the highlighted mail, once done click on Apply.

Checking False-Positive Spam Mails.

Sometimes mails get flagged as spam even when it's not, this depends on the messages and the domain. Don't worry, the mails aren't instantly deleted, instead it goes to Spam Quarantine. 1. Navigate to dashboard and click on Spam Quarantine under Incoming tab. 2. Using Query Rules, quarantined mails should show up automatically. 3. Checklist the false-positive mails you'd like to take action, hit Apply to execute the action.

Flagging, Training Mails as Spam.

Sometimes Spam mails pass through the filter, we can flag and train the filter manually. Spam mails that gets through end up in the Incoming filter. 1. Navigate to Incoming tabs from the main Dashboard. 2. Click on Logs. 3. Query rules by default uses timestamp, the results should show up automatically. 4. Spam mails that passes through the spam filter is always on Delivered status. Checklist the mails that are spam. 5. Select Block Sender as the action, hit apply. 6. Without removing the checklist, select Train as Spam as the action and hit apply again. You're done, senders are now blocked and mails marked are trained as spam! To Upload Messages manually, 1. Navigate to the dashboard. 2. On the left handside, click on Incoming > Train Messages. 3. Upload your messages to train as spam or train as legitimate messages. 4. Click on Continue to train uploaded messages.

Clearing Callout Cache Manually

This function clears the cached results of recipient verification checks. SpamExperts uses SMTP callout verification to confirm whether an email address exists before accepting or delivering mail. The results are temporarily stored to improve performance. Use Clear callout cache (Incoming or Outgoing) when: • A new mailbox was created but emails are still being rejected. • An email address was previously invalid but is now valid. • Mail routing settings were changed. • You are troubleshooting delivery or rejection issues. This action does not delete any emails. This helps offload your destination mail server, and is part of SpamExperts protection against dictionary attacks. To Clear Cache Callout manually, 1. Navigate to Continuity Tab from the main Dashboard. 2. Select Clear Callout Cache - Incoming for incoming mails, 3. or Clear Callout Cache - Outgoing for outgoing mails. 4. Click Clear, a successful confirm message will show up when it's finished. 5. The cache has been cleared successfully!

Customizing Attachment Restrictions

You can customize attachment restrictions on your domain via the Attachment Restrictions option. To begin customizing, 1. Navigate to Attachment Restrictions from the dashboard under Incoming - Protection Settings. 2. By default SpamExperts already have multiple extensions listed. 3. To add extensions manually, Add the extension name under Add New Extensions. Should you wish to remove the extensions from the block list, checklist the extensions and click Remove Selected. 4. Finally, click Save at the bottom of the page. - To disallow sender from your domain to release messages that contain attachments with certain extensions, go to the Disallowed Release Extensions. - Under Restriction Options You can block mail that has : 1. Password protected files. 2. Potentially unwanted attachments such as compressed executable files. 3. Hidden executables. 4. Attachments with macros. Don't forget to click Save at the bottom of the page after done checklisting.
